Capital teaches AKC-style Rally. According to the AKC website,
“Rally provides a link from the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program
to obedience or agility competition, both for dogs and handlers.
In addition, rally promotes fun and enjoyment for dogs at all levels of competition.”
Rally uses 50 signs to build a course.
There are three levels: Novice, Advanced and Excellent.
Each dog-handler team follows the course, walking from sign-to-sign at a brisk pace
and working as a team.
Students will be instructed in correct performance of the AKC Rally signs. Rally courses will
be set up, using the signs learned to-date. Students will be given course
maps. There will be a discussion on how to read a map and "walk" the course. Deductions will be explained.
Other aspects of Rally and "tips" will be discussed.
Prerequisites: In order to enroll dogs must have completed
at least Advanced Basic
and should also be enrolled in a Subnovice obedience class (or higher level).
This is NOT a basic obedience class.
Changes to the AKC rally Regulations took effect on Jan. 1, 2008. Are you ready?
Schedule: The next Rally class will begin Saturday, April 26
at 9:00 a.m. It is full. Check back later for the next scheduled class.
This is an 8-week class. Note: this is a busy show season for dog people,
so one or more classes may need to be postponed. Then, the 8-week class
would extend over nine or ten weeks.
That's just an FYI so that you can keep your calendars clear for that period of weeks.
